Accessibility Statement

The Lumberyard Arts Center (LAC) is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all visitors. We strive to make our facility, programming, and website accessible to all. A board of directors’ committee regularly reviews accessibility best practices to ensure we are compliant with the law and we strive to work toward continual improvement. All patrons are encouraged to contact us regarding accommodations and services.

Accessibility Policy
Drop-off Area and Parking
A drop-off area is available at the front entrance of the LAC at 718 High Street, Baldwin City, KS. Additional free accessible parking spaces are located on High and Eighth Street. Please be aware that parking, including accessible spaces, may be limited during major downtown events.

Wheelchairs and Seating
The LAC is fully accessible to wheelchair users and visitors who need to avoid stairs. Wheelchair seating can be reserved in advance for programs and events. Chairs and stools are available throughout the LAC and its galleries. Patrons are welcome to request seating at any time.
Auxiliary Aids for
Hearing Impairments
Presenters can use microphones upon request in studios and classrooms, with advance notice. We are researching access to auxiliary aids and sign language interpretation services. Our goal is to have these aids available with advance notice in the near future.

Gallery Tours
It is possible for staff, board members or volunteers to provide gallery tours designed for visitors with low or no vision with at least two weeks advance notice and an agreed, mutually available day/time for the tour.
Service Animals
Service animals are welcome at the LAC but must remain on a leash at all times.
